REST IN LOVE

rest in love

“What matters most is to rest in a
general loving awareness of God.”
– St. John of the Cross

So many of us feel less than, unworthy,
broken, un-fixable, like we are not
good enough. I know I often do.

I find this one reminder so critical to
life and meditation and that is…

REST IN LOVE

You are mysteriously, wonderfully,
miraculously changed (you become
more compassionate) by the loving
force of love when you choose to…

REST IN LOVE

It’s been my experience that you don’t
win the battle of accepting that you are
unconditionally loved with willpower and
by trying to artificially pump up your self
esteem.

You win the battle by gently working with
your self condemning thoughts and feelings.

Accepting them.
Observing them.
Naming them.
Not fighting them. and…

RESTING IN LOVE

More and more I’m learning you
don’t have to act on these thoughts.
They don’t have to become your identity,
unless you choose them to be.

You never arrive, so you may have to
do many, many, MANY rounds of accepting
awareness, inquiry, and…

RESTING IN LOVE

Do it. It’s part of life’s journey.

It’s not about sustaining a certain state
of calmness, clarity, or even loving awareness.

What’s so fricking amazing is Love
comes to us if we do our part which is
simply to remain open. More accurately,
perhaps is that Love has always been
there and always will be there – – we just
need to stop blocking the way!

It’s worked for driven, “successful” entrepreneurs…
atheists watching a sunset…
deeply wounded addicts…
and rebellious scoundrels like me.

Whether you get it, or you don’t, it
doesn’t matter.

It’s who you are. It’s what you were made for.

Just…
